A Southern Californian in Catalonia and a Catalan with in-laws in California: that’s us, Nate and Ferran. Together with lovely June, our traveled Utah-born corgi, we live in the enchanting Costa Brava. This is the ‘wild coast’ that streches between Blanes north of Barcelona and the French border.
Our family of three consists of a journalist and a business oriented person (June is more into eating and playing, lucky her!). Also both of us have professional experience in the field of tourism: amongst others, at the Mission Inn Hotel & Spa in Riverside, CA, and offering tailor-made tours in Germany. Clients back then loved to discover wonderful places and not having to deal with the language barrier. At some point we decided to start our project in Catalonia, this unique European region we both know so well – by birth and by adoption – and treasure so much. Wait until you come and you will understand why!
And still about us, last but not least: one of us has an Autism Spectrum Disorder. In case you are not familiar with this condition, ASD is not incapacitating nor it prevents from leading a fulfilling life. You just have to be aware of your own limits and try not to exceed them. If you think about it though: is this not the case for each and every human being, whatever their condition? 😉
Our hometown in Catalonia
We are based in one of the most popular destinations in all of Europe: the Costa Brava. In the Empordà region to be precise, between the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees. Here you will see stunning coastal towns and medieval villages, unique landscapes and vibrant cities like Girona, with one of the best preserved Jewish Quarters in Europe. And much, much more!
Life In The Slow Lane (from Swiss Monocle magazine)
Ready to land in Europe and enjoy your visit to the most? We are indeed ready for take off with you!
What we can do for you
There are several ways we can not only be of help, but to make the most of your trip in this fancy part of the world. In case you’d rather explore by yourself, we will prepare a program for you that will include everything you cannot miss and should take into consideration. Based on your interests and your preferences, we can recommend you where to go, what to see and what to do – on a day by day basis.
Or we can take you to places that will fascinate you, anywhere in Catalonia. A wonderful wine region spotted with old, genuine tiny towns in the south; a valley in the Pyrenees with several stunning romanesque churches; a city that was once one of the biggest metropolis of the Roman Empire – and that preserves a lot of it; … you name it! And it does not have to be necessarily only in Catalonia.
Europe
As you probably already know, the Schengen area has no borders for visitors from the US – and we live 60 miles south of Perpinyà. The history of this worth visiting southern city in France, the capital of the département Pyrénées-Orientales, is strongly linked to that of Catalonia. Still today Catalan is spoken and official there. Perpignan, the name of the city in French, is connected with Catalonia with high speed train – which makes a visit even easier. Same thing with many others cities throughout the European Union, where the high speed rail network is good and growing.
